HOW TO CARE FOR TEAK WOOD

If you have bought a teak table you will first have to make a choice. Are you going to treat the teak table or not? It is not necessary to treat teak furniture, but it is possible! Especially for a dining table, treatment can be a good choice to prevent stains. After all, food or drink is messed around, especially if you have children.

If you still want to treat your teak table, read the possibilities here.

Treat the teak table with green soap

Treating a teak table can be as simple as brushing a sponge with a little green soap over the table once in a while. Because teak is an incredibly sturdy and greasy type of wood, stains are easy to remove in this way. All you need is a slightly damp cloth or a special sponge for teak and green soap. Treating your teak table in this way every few days creates a protective layer on the table. This is due to the greasy properties of the green soap. Have stubborn stains hit the table? Then it is best to gently sand it away with the grain with fine sandpaper, before treating the table.

Teak finisher

If you want a little more protection, you can treat the teak table with a teak finisher. This provides a light protection against stains and moisture. Because the finisher is colorless, the furniture keeps its characteristic appearance and does not discolour. The advantage of this impregnating agent, compared to green soap, is that you only have to apply it 3 to 4 times a year. Treat with teakfix For even better protection, you can treat your teak table with teakfix. This does cause a slight discoloration of the table, but also protects better against grease stains. You only have to repeat the treatment with teakfix once a year. Lightly sand the table in advance with sandpaper, facing the grain.

Teak oil

If you expect a lot of grease stains and want to provide extra protection, you can treat your teak table with teak oil. This ensures that the wood gets a slightly darker shade, but does not let grease stains through. Optionally, you can choose to give the table a high-gloss finish. This means you lose the natural look of the wood. The advantage is that you only have to repeat this treatment once a year or even every 2 years. Here, too, you must first lightly sand the table along with the grain. Which treatment you choose depends on your household, lifestyle and interior. A natural interior requires a table with a natural look that can look a bit more lively. Do you have a sleek design interior? Then you might prefer teak oil with a sleek, high-gloss finish. How will you treat the teak on your teak table? In addition to tables, Teak and Wood also offers other teak furniture.
